An IOTA Heroes Primer

Greetings!
IOTA Heroes is a new universe launching on Shimmer. At the center of this movement are the heroes! All heroes are NFTs with randomly generated visuals and ownership of a hero unlocks various Play&Earn activities.
At launch, heroes will be able to Go Adventure. This is a PvE mode, where the hero will encounter a monster and battle it! If a hero is successful, it will be awarded loot.
Later we will introduce dueling (PvP) and we have many other ideas in the pipeline. All Play&Earn activities, will be released with the heroes at the core. Having more heroes means you can do more activities.
The World of Fortuvia
Fortuvia is a land of enchantment, a magical world teeming with extraordinary beings, fantastical landscapes, and ancient treasures waiting to be discovered. Our heroes call this place home, embarking on epic quests that take them across the rocky mountains, through the deep forests, and to crystal clear lakes and other wondrous places.
But beware, for the wilderness of Fortuvia is also home to fearsome monsters and other fierce opponents who guard the precious loot that our heroes seek. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a novice seeking your first taste of danger and glory, Fortuvia is a place of endless opportunity and excitement.

When our heroes are not out exploring the wilds, they retreat to a cozy village where they can rest and recover between their exploits. There, they can train their skills at various facilities and prepare for the challenges that lie ahead. As the master of these heroes, you have the power to invest in their training and growth, helping them become even stronger and more capable with each passing day.
One of the most popular spots in the village is the Trading Post, where adventurers can trade loot that they don't need or browse through the offers from other community members. You never know what treasures you might find, so be sure to check in regularly!
For those looking to craft new items, the Reforging Station is the place to go. By bringing five items to the station and paying a small fee, you can combine the items to create a new one that can't be obtained any other way. This is a great way to create unique and powerful items that will help you on your quests.

Tokenomics
The tokenomics of IOTA Heroes are designed to create an engaging and rewarding experience for players. We don’t have any governance tokens or plans for one. We also don’t have any complicated token allocations with vesting schedules. But please read about which tokens we offer below!
Heroes
The core token of the game is the Hero NFT, which is built on the ERC721 standard. There are three types of Heroes: Promo Heroes, Founder Heroes, and Regular Heroes. The only difference between these types are how they came into existence. They are all equal in terms of power and ability, however each type will differ vastly in appearance! All heroes can be traded on our Heroes Marketplace!
Promo Heroes
We have created 20 special promo heroes, with handpicked visuals. Some of these will be offered as prizes in tournaments, giveaways and competitions.
Each team member will get one and some individuals that are invaluable to the IOTA Heroes project will also receive one. We might also auction some off, but for now the rest will remain in the custody of the project. Keep in mind, the only difference between these and the Founder heroes are the aesthetics.
Founder Heroes
These heroes will be generated with limited edition visuals. The Founder heroes will be minted in the Founder Hero Sale, we will issue another blog post closer to the sale detailing the amounts of Founder heroes to be sold as well as the pricetag.
As part of the Founder Hero Sale we also have a Free-Mint list. Everybody who wins a Free-Mint spot from some of our giveaways will be added to this list and can mint a Founder Hero without paying the mint price. We will host more giveaways until we commence the Founder Hero Sale.
An important note: Only Promo and Founder heroes can find Hero Tokens on adventures.
Regular Heroes
The Regular heroes can be minted if you gather enough Hero Tokens and gold from adventuring, you need 15 Hero Tokens and 1000 gold.
After minting a new Regular hero you can decide whether you want to keep it and use it to go on adventures or you can sell it on the Heroes Marketplace.
The visuals for the Regular heroes are more plain than Founder heroes, but they can do the same activities.
Items
A selection of IOTA Heroes items
We have an ever-expanding collection of items in the IOTA Heroes universe. You can equip many of these items to your heroes before going on adventure to increase the odds of success! In the top-left you can see the Hero Tokens mentioned in the previous segment.
Some of these items are looted on your adventures, some are made by the Reforging activity. We are also able to airdrop special items to players.
All items can be traded on the Trading Post, you can either ask for other specific items, ask for a certain amount of gold or both! You can also browse through the trades to find a good deal!
The items are built with the ERC1155 standard, so you are free to send them to friends or list them on other projects marketplaces if they support it!
Gold
Precious gold!
Gold is the game currency in IOTA Heroes, which can be earned by going on adventures. It can be used to upgrade training facilities, recharge the reforging station, and more. Gold is a fungible token that can be traded like any other ERC20-based crypto token.
We don’t plan to make gold available for purchase in-game, but we might offer an amount of gold as a reward or prize for various activities. We don’t have an upper limit on the supply. However we have a bunch of gold sinks and might revise them as we go, if we feel it’s needed.
About us
Crelde and Freshcakes
We are a very small team and we want to be open about that. Unlike many startups in crypto space, we don't have any VC funding behind us. This means that we're free to focus on building a fun experience, rather than chasing profits.
The project started in December 2021 and we have been spending a lot of our free-time working on this project ever since.

Crelde has been in crypto space and IOTA since 2017, where his journey started with the CryptoKitties craze and many other early web3 games, which sparked his interest in the opportunities of DLT’s. He holds a master’s degree in Software Engineering from the IT University of Copenhagen. He participated in the IOT2Tangle hackathon in 2020.
Freshcakes is an artist who specializes in concept art, character design and other illustrations. He always aim to improve and is exploring his own unique art style.
We also have a number of advisors and freelance contributors participating in the project.
How do I play?
Since our game is built with solidity smart contracts and a web frontend, you will need a browser wallet to interact with the game. We recommend installing MetaMask if you don’t have it already. Here you can generate a new or use an existing account. Then you go to our game website and sign up by selecting a username and you are good to go! However you might need some SMR on Shimmer Layer 2 to make transactions.
When
We are dependent on the ShimmerEVM and hope to launch very shortly after it goes live, starting with our Founder Hero Sale and Adventuring system. But before that we will conduct a widescale test and welcome everybody to participate. We will start the test as soon as the ShimmerEVM Testnet is ready.
